The History of Engadine Rural Fire Brigade 2000 - 2005

2001

Fires ringed Sydney on Christmas day of this year, the most devastating were around Penrith and Warragamba township, where many homes and businesses were raised to the ground. In Sydney’s South  a fire that started at Wedderburn in Sydneys South West  raced east towards the town of  Helensburgh where homes were lost. Later the township of Waterfall and the western side of Heathcote was threatened.

2002

In October ten homes were burnt to the ground at Thurlgona Rd Engadine, the fire started below Thurlgona Rd where it quickly took hold and raced  in an easterly direction towards the houses on top of the ridge. The fire also spotted into the valley between Cooriengah Hts Rd and Lalor Crs Engadine, where several homes were threatened with some sustaining minor damage.

2003

Saw the arrival of a new Category 1 tanker to replace our Isuzu with a P.T.O Pump. They year was quiet for fires with significant rains through Sydney.

2004

It was announced to the Brigade membership a new fire station would be built for the Brigade, with a view of moving us from Anzac Ave Engadine which is our current home.

A New Personnel carrier arrived to replace our Land cruiser troop carier that was donated to the Brigade by the Chipilly church. The vehicle is a dual cab Toyota Hilux 3.0 Turbo Diesel
